A Dog Breeding Tip Worth Listening To

Purebred Breeders Directory  |  Best Breeds For Kids  |  Dog Breeder 101

If you want to have just one litter from your favorite female dog or you are looking to set up a breeding facility there are things that you need to know. Make sure you have done a lot of research so that you know what you are going to be dealing with. Perhaps you could use the odd dog breeding tip to make sure you are doing things right. The most important dog breeding tip is how to choose your breeding animals. You must be careful to ensure that the animals you pick are healthy and are breed correct. They must be good examples of the breed standards. Remember any flaws that your animals have may be passed on to their puppies. Check to be sure that you know what exactly the dog should look like. How tall should they be? How long should their snout be? Is their color regulation? All these things are very important when choosing your breeding dogs. Another dog breeding tip concerns the age you should begin breeding your dogs. Do not breed your female before she is two years old. Too many people breed on the first or second heat at a time when the dog is not fully matured in her growth. This can stunt her growth and at the same time produce small unhealthy puppies. Males usually can be bred anytime after nine months. Keeping meticulous records is very important. You need to record when the female goes into heat, when she is receptive to being bred and if you do breed her you must record the dates she accepts the male. That information will enable you to approximate when she should have her puppies. Remember the dog breeding tip that you likely have heard many times and do not over breed your dogs. They need time after raising a litter to get back in shape. They need to regain their weight, let their coat grow back in and have enough time for their teats to shrink again. If you want your animals to stay healthy take good care of them, feed them well and follow any good dog breeding tip that others who might be more experienced at dog breeding then you may pass along.
