Small Dog Breeding Points

Purebred Breeders Directory  |  Best Breeds For Kids  |  Dog Breeder 101

Dog lovers all have their personal favorite breeds of dog in which they prefer to own. If someone acquires a dog that fits their own personal tastes, their ability to take care of the dog will increase in a positive manner as they will feel a love and attraction that will coincide with their personal specific desires of a breed of dog. As such, some people will prefer small dogs which, in turn, increases the demand for small dog breeding.

For those wishing to undertake the challenge of small dog breeding, there need to be a certain understanding of what constitutes proper small dog breeding vs. what would be considered improper small dog breeding.

While it would seem academic, many people do not realize that any attempt that involve small dog breeding that includes cross breeding with large dogs is a highly unadvisable venture. There are numerous reasons for this, but the two most common reasons is that such cross breeding may yield serious injuries to the smaller dog, particularly if the smaller dog is a female. Furthermore, the resultant offspring of the crossbred genes of a large dog and a small dog may not turn out to be a small dog after all if the large dog’s genes become dominant. This would all undermine the reasons and purposes behind dog breeding in the first place.

Of course, if the small dog breeding experiment goes wrong and produces an undesired offspring, then the offspring will suffer as they may end up not being wanted. This is a ridiculously cruel situation that could easily have been circumvented if proper dog breeding had been employed.

As such, if one is undertaking a dog breeding venture, seek to avoid making the previously described common mistakes. If one is looking to procure the services of a small dog breeder, then it would be wise to seek the services of an experienced breeder who will avoid such mistakes.
